Denver Venture School is public charter school opening in the fall of 2008. DVS is FREE to attend and open to all students in the metro Denver area. Serving approximately 400 students in grades 9 through 12, DVS will offer a small school environment dedicated to academic excellence.
- Students follow a rigorous liberal-arts academic program that will prepare them for four-year colleges and universities
- A project-based learning environment, based on the Expeditionary Learning model, gives students the chance to engage in hands-on studies in areas of interest to them
- Through the experience of starting and running a real business, students will develop the essential qualities of entrepreneurs including independence, self-confidence, a strong work ethic, and a passion for success
While the expectations for all DVS students are high, the school offers a supportive environment that fosters achievement.
- Faculty advisors work with a small group of students during their four years at the school, overseeing their academic, social and emotional development
- Business and community leaders mentor students and oversee student-run businesses
- DVS has found a home! We are located at 2409 Arapahoe St. in Denver.

One of the basic premises of this school is that the skills required to be a successful entrepreneur are the same skills required to be successful in college and in work.
High school students who…
- know how to have professional interactions with adults
- know how to advocate for themselves with peers and supervisors
- collaborate with a variety of people with diverse skill sets and backgrounds
- are committed to quality and timely products and outcomes
- have problem solved in situations where the impact of their decisions really matter
Are the same young adults who…
- knock on the door of their freshman chemistry professor when they aren’t sure if they really got the point of the lecture that day
- independently organize their work and time
- stay focused on long term goals and say no to activities or people that make it difficult to reach their goals
- come on time to work
- can gracefully challenge their supervisors
- don’t just get into college or get hired, they succeed and become the employees people fight for.
